1 Appold Street
Broadgate, City of London1 Appold Street is an existing 190,000 sq ft office building located within the Broadgate campus in the City of London. The building is being reinvented and repositioned to deliver a best-in-class sustainable workplace, with the existing tenants vacating in December 2023.
British Land appointed Opera in February 2021 to undertake an ideas and marketing study for the refurbishment of 1 Appold Street. As part of this initial study options were appraised in relation to the refurbishment and reconfiguration of the building, with the proposed development extending the existing building in height by an additional seven stories.
The vision for 1 Appold Street is to provide a uniquely reimagined building, that integrates seamlessly with the surrounding Broadgate campus and new Exchange Park. The proposals will provide a flexible workspace offering, best in class end of journey experience and enhanced external amenity. The development will be at the forefront of British Land's 2030 sustainability strategy to reduce both embodied and operational carbon and will target BREEAM Outstanding, WELL Platinum and NABERS 5*+
Opera is providing project management consultancy, working with the assembled team to challenge the stage 2 brief outputs and deliver maximum value from the building asset. The design development period and procurement period for the building will continue through to vacant possession in December 2023.
